Installation Overview

The BowGuard system installs as a carbon fiber wall strap reinforcement system, creating a structural composite that stabilizes bowed foundation walls and prevents additional inward movement.

Wall Condition Assessment

  • The system should only be installed on walls exhibiting flexural bowing with less than 2 inches of deflection and no active sliding or shear movement. 

Surface Preparation

  • The wall surface must be mechanically prepared to expose sound concrete or masonry and achieve a clean bonding surface.

Crack and Joint Repair

  • Mortar joints, cracks, and hinge points are filled using SRS-2100 Rapid-Cure Structural Paste to create a smooth installation surface.

Carbon Fiber Installation

  • Carbon fiber straps are embedded into structural epoxy and fully saturated to create the bonded composite reinforcement.

Slab-Lock Connection

  • Each strap extends beneath the slab to form an anchored connection that helps resist sliding and shear forces.

Top Anchorage

  • A Simpson Strong-Tie URFP bracket secures the reinforcement to the sill plate and framing system.

Storage & Handeling 

All BowGuard system components should be stored in a clean, dry environment away from excessive heat, moisture, or direct sunlight.

Recommended storage temperature range:

40°F – 95°F (4°C – 35°C)

​

Carbon fiber materials should remain sealed in original packaging until installation. Epoxy cartridges and repair materials should be stored according to manufacturer guidelines.

​
