Retaining Wall Repair & Strengthening With Carbon Fiber

This project details the full repair and carbon fiber reinforcement of a deteriorating two-tier retaining wall in California.
Years of soil pressure, improper restraint, and moisture infiltration caused significant cracking in both the upper concrete section and the lower brick wall—ultimately compromising the wall’s structural integrity.
A foundation repair contractor familiar with SRS systems contacted Structural Reinforcement Solutions (SRS) for a permanent strengthening design. Using a combination of SRS-660BI bidirectional carbon fiber for localized crack confinement and SRS-600UNI unidirectional carbon fiber for global wall strengthening, the failing wall was reinforced to withstand long-term earth pressures.
Cracked mortar joints were repaired, deteriorated brick corners were rebuilt, and the entire wall was wrapped as required to restore confinement strength. The finished structure was coated to protect the epoxy from UV exposure and provide a clean, uniform appearance.
This case study highlights how SRS carbon fiber strengthening systems deliver durable, cost-effective, and non-intrusive solutions for retaining wall repair.
