Carbon Fiber Column Repair with Integrated Corrosion Protection – Crete, NE

At the Smithfield Plant in Crete, Nebraska, two aging 16" x 16" concrete support columns were found with surface cover loss and reinforcing steel corrosion. Although still structurally stable, the deterioration raised long-term durability concerns that required a non-invasive reinforcement approach. Epp Foundation Repair was contracted to complete the repairs using a hybrid system that included SRS-4100 Steel Guard for rebar passivation, SRS-4000 Concrete Guard for densification and adhesion, and SRS-600UNI carbon fiber reinforcement for confinement strength. After removing loose concrete, applying corrosion protection products, surface patching, and installing staggered carbon fiber straps, the columns were restored to their original profile and reinforced for long-term performance without intrusive demolition or rebar excavation.
